01 · Project overview

A continuous institutional communication system designed to build authority, participation and professional community.

The FMC — Federação Nacional de Mediação de Conflitos required a consistent digital presence capable of communicating its institutional role, educational initiatives and recurring events to professionals in Portugal and Brazil.

The project combines editorial planning, content curation, social media management, visual-content production and monthly newsletter creation. Rather than treating each post or email as an isolated asset, the communication was organised as one recurring system in which events, educational content, membership communication and institutional positioning reinforce each other.

The visual and editorial direction was developed to communicate five core attributes: credibility, authority, trust, clarity and a modern institutional presence. These principles guide the tone, hierarchy and presentation of recurring campaigns across Instagram, Facebook and email.

Communication objectiveAuthority and awareness

Institutional content explains the value of mediation while reinforcing the Federation’s professional positioning.

Community objectiveParticipation and membership

Recurring events, educational formats and membership benefits create reasons to remain connected to the FMC.

Operating modelMonthly editorial continuity

Social content, event promotion and newsletters are planned as an evolving communication cycle rather than one-off campaigns.

02 · Communication challenge

A professional federation needs to communicate institutional credibility without becoming distant or overly formal.

The FMC communicates with mediators, legal professionals, academics, associated members and people interested in conflict resolution. The content therefore needed to remain credible enough for a professional audience while still being accessible, clear and engaging.

A second challenge was continuity. The Federation runs recurring initiatives such as the Ciclos de Diálogo FMC, the Clube de Leitura FMC and annual congresses. These programmes require repeated communication before, during and around each event without making the channel feel visually repetitive.

01

Institutional authority

Content needed to reinforce the FMC as a credible reference in mediation and conflict management.

02

Educational clarity

Professional subjects had to be presented in accessible formats that encourage reading, discussion and participation.

03

Recurring-event visibility

Repeated programmes required a recognisable communication system with enough variation to remain fresh.

04

Membership growth

Institutional communication also had to explain the value of joining and maintaining a relationship with the Federation.

03 · Role and workflow

The work connected editorial planning, visual production, publishing and recurring email communication.

My role covered the ongoing management of the FMC’s Instagram and Facebook communication as well as the creation and maintenance of a new institutional newsletter every month.

The workflow included monthly planning, topic selection, content curation, campaign sequencing, visual design, copy adaptation, asset preparation, publication management and newsletter assembly. Communication was coordinated around the Federation’s activity calendar so that social media and email supported the same institutional priorities.

Plan

Editorial calendars, campaign priorities, event dates and content pillars are organised before production begins.

Create

Visual assets, copy and newsletter modules are developed within the established FMC identity.

Manage

Publishing, recurring updates and monthly newsletter delivery maintain communication continuity over time.

04 · Editorial strategy

The content architecture balances institutional positioning, education, community engagement and event promotion.

The editorial plan was structured around the FMC’s broader communication objectives rather than around isolated post formats. This created a more coherent relationship between institutional messages, educational content and recurring initiatives.

Authority

Strengthen institutional positioning

Messages reinforce the Federation’s role in professional mediation and its contribution to the field.

Education

Promote mediation knowledge

Content introduces themes, practices and perspectives related to mediation and conflict management.

Community

Encourage professional engagement

Events and recurring formats create opportunities for dialogue, reading, debate and continued participation.

Growth

Support membership acquisition

Communication highlights initiatives, access and institutional value that can motivate new professionals to join.

Communication principles

Credibility, authority, trust, clarity and modern institutional communication remain the reference points for both editorial decisions and visual execution.

05 · Social media communication system

A flexible visual system gives recurring programmes a recognisable identity without making the feed feel repetitive.

Social communication includes event announcements, reminders, educational content, association messages, institutional updates and campaign support. Visual assets are adapted to different placements while preserving FMC brand recognition and hierarchy.

The recurring communication around Clube de Leitura FMC and Ciclos de Diálogo FMC required clear event information, speaker visibility, date and time hierarchy, calls to action and enough visual differentiation between editions.

Institutional growthMembership and channel development

Campaigns support association acquisition and the promotion of new FMC digital channels, including Facebook.

Content balancePromotion plus education

Event visibility is combined with informative content so the channels deliver value beyond announcements.

06 · Content calendar and campaign planning

The editorial calendar turns a high volume of recurring communication into a visible and manageable production system.

A monthly publication calendar was developed to coordinate themes, deadlines, events, creative assets and post copy. This structure makes it easier to balance institutional content with campaign-driven communication and reduces the risk of competing messages being published too close together.

Planning also creates a clear relationship between the event cycle and the communication cycle: announcement, contextual content, reminder, event-day communication and follow-up can be prepared as connected stages rather than as last-minute individual posts.

Editorial-system principle

A content calendar is not only a scheduling document. It becomes the operational bridge between communication objectives, campaign priorities, design production and publication consistency.

07 · Monthly newsletter management

Each newsletter functions as an editorial summary of the Federation’s current activity and upcoming participation opportunities.

A new newsletter is designed and assembled every month, aligned with the FMC’s event calendar and institutional communication priorities. The layouts combine editorial content, event promotion, speaker information, calls to action and membership communication within a clear reading hierarchy.

The newsletter system was developed to support responsive email consumption while preserving the Federation’s visual identity. Sections are organised so readers can move quickly from an institutional introduction to current highlights, upcoming programmes and direct participation links.

01

Editorial hierarchy

Headlines, highlights, programme information and calls to action are separated into predictable reading levels.

02

Event continuity

Newsletter content reinforces the same recurring initiatives promoted through social channels.

03

Institutional consistency

Typography, colour, imagery and graphic language remain aligned with the FMC identity across monthly editions.

04

Participation pathways

Direct calls to action make it easier to move from reading to event registration, membership information or further engagement.

08 · Portugal and Brazil communication

Recurring online programmes are communicated to two audiences while maintaining one institutional voice.

Key FMC initiatives such as the Clube de Leitura and Ciclos de Diálogo are promoted simultaneously to audiences in Portugal and Brazil. Communication therefore needs to make dates, local times and participation information immediately understandable across both markets.

The design system prioritises clear event metadata and consistent calls to action so the same communication can support a shared professional community without fragmenting the Federation’s identity.

Shared programmeOne event, two audiences

Recurring online initiatives are communicated as part of a unified cross-market professional community.

Information priorityDates, times and participation

Event metadata is treated as a primary UX element so readers can act without unnecessary interpretation.

Brand continuityOne institutional voice

Visual and editorial consistency helps the FMC remain recognisable across channels and geographic audiences.

09 · Ongoing digital management

The project is managed as a living communication ecosystem that evolves month by month.

Ongoing work includes editorial planning, asset creation, content curation, publication management, monthly newsletter production and adaptation of the communication system to new speakers, themes, congresses and institutional priorities.

This long-term model helps the FMC maintain a professional presence between major events while creating a consistent rhythm of useful communication for existing members, partners and potential new associates.

Consistency

A recurring production framework protects visual and editorial coherence across months and channels.

Agility

Reusable structures make it easier to adapt communication to new speakers, themes and programme dates.

Continuity

Social media and email maintain contact with the professional community between events and congresses.

11 · Outcome and learning

A coherent communication ecosystem that keeps institutional authority, professional education and community participation connected.

The ongoing system gives the FMC a consistent way to communicate throughout the year rather than only around major events. Social media builds visibility and engagement, the editorial calendar creates operational clarity and the monthly newsletter consolidates important content and participation opportunities in a more direct channel.

Together, these touchpoints support the Federation’s two central communication goals: promoting the culture and professional relevance of conflict mediation, and creating stronger pathways for professionals to engage with and join the FMC.

Stronger institutional consistency

Recurring visual and editorial structures reinforce recognition across social media and email.

Clearer programme visibility

Clube de Leitura, Ciclos de Diálogo and congress communication become easier to plan, understand and promote.

Continuous community contact

Monthly communication creates a regular relationship with members, partners and prospective associates.

Communication learning

For a professional federation, consistency is not only a visual concern. The strongest system connects editorial priorities, recurring programmes, publication rhythm and participation pathways so every channel contributes to the same institutional narrative.
